Y-Type Tees

CYprocess Y-type tees — also called Y-branches or lateral tees — join two line branches at a shallow angle, so merging product meets the main stream instead of a wall. The same piece doubles as an inspection and clean-out point.

Y-Type Tees

Overview

About Y-Type Tees

How this equipment works in powder handling lines and what to consider when selecting it.

Working principle

Where a sharp tee throws the branch stream into the opposite wall, a Y keeps the branch angle shallow so product enters along the main flow. That means less degradation, less wear at the junction and a smoother pressure profile than a right-angle tee.

Options and integration

Branch angles and sizes are made to the line, with blanked legs for inspection duty or capped clean-outs at low points. Stainless and gasketed builds suit food and chemical lines, and Y-pieces combine with diverters and elbows to build gentle multi-branch routes.

FAQ

Y-Type Tees FAQ

Common questions about selection, integration and quotation.

A Y-tee merges two flows that run together; a diverter switches one line between destinations. If two sources feed one receiver continuously, a Y is the simpler, wear-friendlier answer; if flows must be isolated from each other, the diverter is required.
