Valves

Flap / Dump Valve

CYprocess flap valves — also called dump valves or ash discharge valves — empty dust-collector hoppers and silos while limiting air in-leakage. Counterweight double-flap designs open under material weight, and electric cam-driven double flaps give controlled airlock discharge.

Overview

About Flap / Dump Valve

How this equipment works in powder handling lines and what to consider when selecting it.

Counterweight double-flap valves

Gravity-operated flaps use the weight of collected ash to open a conical sealing surface, then reseat under a counterweight with no motor drive. Working temperature is typically about 150 °C, with unloading rates from a few to tens of m³/h across common square sizes. Double-layer stacks improve airlock performance.

Electric airlock flap valves

A motor-driven crank, cam and linkage opens the upper and lower flaps alternately, so a continuous air seal is held while discharge is metered. Counterweights or springs reseat the plates. Openings commonly span about 150-900 mm, with motors from roughly 1.1 to 5.5 kW and temperature capability to about 350 °C.

FAQ

Flap / Dump Valve FAQ

Common questions about selection, integration and quotation.

A flap valve has no rotor to jam, so it suits lumpy or sticky ash that would block a rotary valve. A rotary valve meters more precisely and holds a tighter air seal where discharge must be controlled against a pressure differential.
