Horizontal Ribbon Mixer
CYprocess horizontal ribbon mixers — also called ribbon blenders — blend powders and powder-liquid formulations in a U-shaped trough with dual helical ribbon agitators. Batch times typically run from about 5 to 60 minutes depending on the recipe.

Working principle
As the shaft turns, the outer ribbon drives material from both ends toward the middle while the inner ribbon returns it outward. Product also moves radially, forming a continuous convection cycle. The result is a homogeneous blend with gentle handling, and a VFD can adjust batch time and mixing intensity.
Construction and options
Builds range from carbon steel through SS304 to full SS316L, with anti-corrosion or wear coatings where needed. Scrapers can be fitted for cohesive or viscous recipes, liquid can be sprayed into the powder bed, and discharge is by flap, spherical, butterfly or knife gate valve.

It is the usable trough volume below the ribbon, not the geometric volume of the shell. Batch weight follows from it at the material's bulk density, which is why the same mixer gives a different batch weight for a light powder than for a dense one.
