Inflation Seal Butterfly Valve

CYprocess inflation seal butterfly valves — also called inflatable-seat butterfly valves — close with an air-inflated seat ring pressed against the disc. The seat follows the disc surface instead of rubbing it, so sealing stays tight on abrasive powders for far longer than a resilient seat.

Overview

About Inflation Seal Butterfly Valve

How this equipment works in powder handling lines and what to consider when selecting it.

Working principle

The disc swings open and closed like a normal butterfly valve, but the seat is a flexible ring in its own housing. When the valve closes, the ring is inflated with compressed air and presses evenly against the disc rim; when it opens, the ring deflates first, so the disc never drags across a pressurised seal.

Options and integration

Body and disc in SS304 or SS316L, ring in food-grade elastomer, and pneumatic actuation with solenoid and limit switches as standard. Typical mounts are silo and hopper outlets, blow-tank inlets and conveyor line gates where a soft-seated valve would wear out quickly.

FAQ

Inflation Seal Butterfly Valve FAQ

Common questions about selection, integration and quotation.

A fixed seat is dragged by the disc every cycle and wears fastest on abrasive powder. The inflatable ring only presses on the disc when the valve is closed, so there is no rubbing travel — the ring lasts longer and the closure stays dust-tight instead of beginning to leak after a few thousand cycles.
